Ameraucana

When we first got chickens in 2017, I fell for the "Americana" confusion and ended up with beautiful easter eggers that laid blue, green, and pink. After learning more about the Standard Ameraucana breed, I decided to go all in and join the breed clubs, find breeding stock, and start working to improve them for exhibition. I started with Self-Blue, which was still a project variety at the time, and "BBS" or Blue, Black, and Splash. I also worked on a Silkied Ameraucana project and ended up with a recessive white gene that popped up from birds that were unknown carriers of the gene. I've bred and shown Self-Blue, White, Blue, Black, and Splash. My daughter had bantam Wheaten and Blue Wheaten for a short time as her 4-H project.

In 2020, I decided to start over with a new Blue pair that had the genetics for lacing- a cockerel from one breeder and a pullet from another. I have been working on my line of Blues that I've developed from that pair ever since. It's been a bit of a battle making sure the unwanted traits from a distant outcross to Andalusians are completely gone, while keeping the color genetics I need for better laced Blues. They have done extremely well in exhibition and I believe my hard work is paying off. I earned the Master Exhibitor Award from the Ameraucana Alliance in 2025, after reaching the 800 point threshold in sanctioned Ameraucana competition.

In 2024, I decided to get out of Self-Blue and Whites and add a new project. I acquired a Chocolate Ameraucana hen to breed to one of my own Blacks. In 2025, I bred from those split males to create both Chocolate and Mauve offspring. The Mauves inherited lacing genetics like my Blues. I am really loving them! You can see photos of them on my Instagram.

For the 2026 season, I plan to keep refining my Blues, Splashes, and Blacks, as well as to keep working on Chocolate & Mauve project varieties.

Availability-
I do not sell hatching eggs or chicks from my Ameraucanas at this time. I hatch and grow out every chick here on the farm to evaluate them for future breeding and show potential. Occasionally, I'll offer started pullets (my culls) to pet/layer homes. On more rare occasion, I may have extra breeding quality birds to pass on. My preference is for them to go to youth who are interested in exhibition or to other dedicated and knowledgeable breeders.

I do not take pre-orders or keep a wait list. I will update the shop as birds are available. Thank you for understanding.
